Building Permits & Inspections
UPDATE ON PERMIT SERVICES / COVID-19
Residential building inspections that take place inside a residence have been suspended until further notice and may be subject to change. This includes, water heaters, furnaces and interior work. We will continue inspections on residential permits for exterior improvements such as roofing, siding, decks, fences, concrete and asphalt.
Commercial inspections will continue on unoccupied structures and spaces.
There may be some projects that require an inspection in order to continue. Please contact our inspection staff at (651) 554-3220 with any questions. Special inspection arrangements may be made through our Building Official (Joe Heimkes) via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org . It may be possible to send pictures so that your project may continue.
Permit submittals will continue to be accepted by mail or e-mail. All submittals will continue to be processed, however, no permits will be issued through the front counter until City Hall is open for restricted business. Permits with fixed fees and those that do not require a plan review will continue to be available through our ePermit online system.
The Permit and Inspections Department issues all building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and miscellaneous permits, and schedules all required inspections. The building official is responsible for plan reviews and inspection of all building and remodeling projects. All electrical inspections are scheduled with our state electrical inspector.
